John McEntee sits at a diner table in a TikTok video from The Right Stuff, speaking directly to the camera with a breakfast plate of scrambled eggs and sausage in front of him. A waffle and syrup are visible in the foreground. The on-screen caption reads “much more complicated than just science,” reflecting the app’s conservative commentary style.

OCT 2, 2024 — John McEntee wasn’t trying to become TikTok famous—but by 2024, the former Trump staffer had quietly turned into the right’s most effective viral voice. With deadpan delivery, greasy takeout, and a knack for punchy one-liners, McEntee used the platform to troll the left, grow a devoted Gen Z following, and market his conservative dating app Date Right. While many Republicans lobbied to ban TikTok, McEntee leaned in—arguing the app was less a threat than a golden opportunity. His message was clear: the future of political influence wouldn’t be won on cable news, but on the “For You” page.
